I am so glad for recognition of this holiday. Seems long overdue, as a nation.Yet, is it not this generation that is most able to feel, understand, and appreciate freedom?Appreciating the joy of freedom — especially for others who once were enslaved—this is a sign of growth.Spiritual growth.Holiday means “holy day.” And there is authentic holiness in this day.For to appreciate freedom for anyone else is to exercise one’s free will in alignment with greater good, the almighty, the divine. Free will is a gift given to all beings at birth. And it is a gift that is never taken back.Every living thing revels in the gift of freedom.Humans try to take the gift from others. But when they try, all it means is they are choosing bondage for themselves. As Viktor Frankl witnessed at Auschwitz in the cold cruel winter of 1944, no one can take away our freedom to choose our response to what is. We always have a choice.Recognizing the joy of the Juneteenth holiday is a sign of movement towards “a more perfect union,” as a society. And lto a better life, as an individual. To feel into the joy of Juneteenth is to feel the expansion of the heart. To increase one’s capacity for love.Which is the only thing we take with us when we exit the stage of this time-space reality: our capacity to love.To all who sense and relish and appreciate freedom, wherever you see it or imagine it—Happy Juneteenth!

Summer is a great time to think about your next career move!Take some time for reflective journaling. Write about the greatest challenge of the past year. Write a few sentences describing what happened. Who, what, where, when. Then think and write a paragraph or more: How did it happen and why? What did you learn? About yourself? About others? About the work? In hindsight, what would you do differently? What’s the biggest takeaway, the clearest desire borne out of that experience? What do you want to experience next in your career, in the coming year? When you get clear on what you want, trust the universe to deliver it to you. Much the way your favorite restaurant works. Or visiting the home of your favorite nephew and niece on Easter Sunday. With gratitude and appreciation, you will always receive an amazing meal, and enjoy wonderful company.Summer’s a great time to place your career food order.——Photo credit: my photo.Food credit: Mike Palecek & Monica Todoran.

How long’s it been since you last searched for a new job?Recently I’ve helped a number of clients who’d not actively job searched in 10+ years. For one, it was 23 years; another, 30 years.SO MUCH has changed since then! Tip: Emplpyers only care to see the most recent 10 years, 15 max., on your resume.Yet there are clear ways to include older info. A few other OUTDATED PRACTICES:❌ Having only one (1) general resume, and using it to apply to multiple jobs. Eek. That’s a recipe for failure.❌ Failing to do research BEFORE applying. Eek. Especially with cybercriminal traps popping up like weeds.❌ Failing to network. This has always been a mistake and still is.❌ Failing to know and avoid serious red flags.Considering a job change in the near future—or know someone who is? Grab a convenient time to chat on Zoom or the phone. Glad to help!https://lnkd.in/gA2e7EZq

Here is a helpful article by Beverly Hutchinson McNeff, executive director of the Miracle Distribution Center. “There is a lot of anger in our world right now. Whether it be attacks in the Middle East or in our own backyards, hate and grievances fill the air. Calls for retribution abound. You attack me so I must attack back... You hold me accountable … so I say you are a liar and attack not only you but your children and any family ... Is this really the world we want to live in?“Jesus lived through some very difficult times, but his message was always for love and healing. His harshest words were for the Pharisees and Sadducees, the religious leaders of the time, who he did not see as being the ministers of compassion and support that they were meant to be for their people. “He called the leaders who stood in their temples praying loudly just so they could be seen and praised by others, hypocrites. “He [said], ‘When you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.’“This is the same message Jesus gives us now in A Course in Miracles….He tells us that God does not hear our words but the prayers of our hearts. So if our prayers or our religious ‘speak’ is just for others, it might be why those with this intent are always so angry and have no peace…The Biblical quote, ‘Many are called but few are chosen,” really should be, ‘All are called but few choose to listen.’ The ‘chosen ones’ are merely those who choose right sooner. Right minds can do this now, and they will find rest unto their souls. God knows you only in peace, and this is your reality.’ (T3.IV.7)“We are not listening if there is no desire for peace in our prayer but only a display. …so the way to get into the flow of truth would be to make the peace of God our one goal:“‘The peace of God is everything I want. The peace of God is my one goal; the aim of all my living here, the end I seek, my purpose and my function and my life, while I abide where I am not at home.’ (W-205)“A beautiful prayer in the Course says,“I do not know what anything including this, means. And so I do not know how to respond to it. And I will not use my own past learning as the light to guide me now.” (T-14.XI.6:7)“This section then goes on to say,‘By this refusal to attempt to teach yourself what you do not know, the Guide Whom God has given you will speak to you. He will take His rightful place in your awareness the instant you abandon it, and offer it to Him. You cannot be your guide to miracles, for it is you who made them necessary.” (ibid)“This really is a process of releasing and remembering. We need to release our control over the situation and remember the One Who truly is in control. Let us accept God’s Answer and direction through the Guide He has given us, for it will be the one that brings us peace.”
