Flipped 2 is the long-hoped-for sequel to Rob Reiner's 2010 movie Flipped; unfortunately, there have been a few discouraging comments made about its prospects. The Cast Of Flipped Reunited For A 10-Year Reunion

There's been enough interest in Flipped that a decade after the film, author Wendelin Van Draanen interviewed some of its actors. Madeline Carroll, Callan McAuliffe, Stefanie Scott, and Israel Broussard gathered for a 10-year reunion on Van Draanen YouTube channel, and though the cast discussed their experience on the film and how they've felt since, there was no mention of a sequel.

Wendelin Van Draanen Has Said There Are No Plans For A Sequel

At the moment, Flipped 2 is not confirmed. Rob Reiner has not mentioned anything about doing a sequel while Van Draanen also flat-out shot the idea down during a Q&A, saying, via YouTube,

"If you have a copy of the anniversary edition of Flipped, the one with the orange stripe down the side of it, find a copy of this because there's a whole section in there explaining things like the Flipped movie experience and also why I haven't written a sequel. So I have legitimate reasons."

The Cast Has Aged Significantly Since The First Movie

With Flipped 2 unconfirmed, it's unclear who would reappear for the sequel. Based on how the previous movie ended, there are some obvious choices for returning characters, but the story will need to match their ages. The characters in Flipped are 11–12 years old, but the actors are now much older. Madeline Carroll as Julianna "Juli" Baker, Callan McAuliffe as Bryce Loski, Israel Broussard as Garrett Einbinder, and Stefanie Scott as Dana Tressler are the young students in the first film.

They could reappear in Flipped 2, but the sequel would then need to take place in the characters' late 20s or early 30s to match the ages of the actors. The older actors in the film would likely not return for a sequel, and one of the key characters, Chet, would not return, considering John Mahoney passed away in 2018.

The creators suggest Flipped 2 could be about Bryce and Juli in high school, and they request that the original cast return. The Change petition has over 3000 signers of a 5000-signature goal, but it was started in May 2019, so it may be losing some steam.

Catching up with the characters in high school with new actors could be an option. Another option for Flipped 2 is to see the former actors, now aged up to their 30s. Maybe Bryce and Juli could be engaged or married, about to enter a whole new stage of life.
