Why can't I buy LDS garments online? ›

Garments and Sacred Clothing: To protect the sacred nature of garments and ceremonial clothing, those purchasing them must be endowed members of the Church or have a living ordinance recommend. Garment purchases require that you have a Church account.

To purchase temple garments and other church distribution items online you can go to https://store.churchofjesuschrist.org and login with your church membership account.

Begin by visiting store.churchofjesuschrist.org. Then log in with your Church user login information, which will automatically default to the preferred language you set in your Church account. Supported languages include Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, German, Russian, Korean, Japanese and Chinese.

For women, according to the church's online store, bottoms and tops come in a variety of fabrics (cotton, chemise, nylon mesh and assorted blends), ranging in price from 65 cents (for discounted items) to $5.75 apiece.

Before you may purchase garments, you must be endowed or have an activated temple recommend for living ordinances. A current temple recommend is not required. Your Church account will verify this information and permit you to purchase garments.

Catch up quick: "Temple garments" are white clothes that resemble long shorts and short-sleeved tops. They are generally worn in place of underwear, and under bras. The church teaches that the garments serve as daily reminders of members' connections to God and promises they made to follow church rules.

There are also two styles of necklines for men. Endowed church members can purchase garments through church distribution centers worldwide, through the mail, and online. They are sold at a moderate price that is assumed to be near cost. To purchase temple garments, members must have received their temple endowment.

Only adult or senior members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who have made sacred promises in the temple can wear temple garments. Their purpose is to remind about the commitments made with the Lord in the temple.

Can I donate old ceremonial clothing? When appropriate, you may give gently used clothing to endowed family members or friends. However, ceremonial clothing, regardless of condition, should not be donated to a temple, Deseret Industries, or any clothing exchange.
